Stratford Elementary students (K-6): If you would like to do some running and earn fun prizes along the way, the Epic Kids Run is for you. It is healthy, it is fun, and it’s great exercise.

The purpose is for kids to commit to a healthy fitness program and enrich their learning of running, endurance sports, nutrition, and overall health and well-being. The goal is to complete a marathon, 26.2 miles, during the 2014-15 school year.

Students will learn running fundamentals, including stretching techniques, warm-up, proper running techniques, cool-down, slowly building endurance, and building mental stamina.

Students will meet one afternoon a week after school throughout the year and run one mile with their coaches each session. Each child will receive a running log to be signed as miles are completed.
