Wooster Middle School lead science teacher Christopher Newlan has been named a state winner in the 2015 Samsung Solve for Tomorrow contest for an innovative approach to advancing interest among students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

As a state winner Newlan has earned a minimum of $20,000 in Samsung technology for your school.

Newlan will now represent Connecticut in Samsung’s national competition where he will have the opportunity to earn a larger technology package of $35,000 or $120,000.

Stratford Board of Education Vice Chairman Bob Chaloux said, “I want to express our board members’ sincere thanks for your work in elevating our students’ educational knowledge and experience. Too often, we are remiss in publicizing our teachers who excel in their profession and make significant impacts on the students they teach. Thank you for all you do for our students and our district.”
