Bunnell High School is sponsoring a Career Day designed to provide students with the opportunity to explore careers of interest. More than 40 volunteers from various career areas are scheduled to come to the high school and speak with students about their respective careers. Students may gain a valuable insight into careers by speaking with someone actually working in a particular career field.

This event will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 7, from approximately 8:30-11 a.m., broken into three 40 minute presentations. While the content of each career presentation is left to the discretion of the speaker, and any format is acceptable — speaking, PowerPoint, etc. — the following are suggested topics each speaker is encouraged to highlight:

• Description of job responsibilities

• A typical day

• Likes and dislikes

• Skills necessary for success

• Recommended high school courses

• Salary range

• Advancement opportunities

• Related jobs

• Future employment outlook

• Postsecondary requirements (majors)

• Area schools offering this major

• Internship tips and other advice

Students from all grades will be scheduled for the career areas in which they are interested. Presentations will take place in individual classrooms with a teacher and up to 25 students. A light lunch will be provided to presenters following the presentations.

More information may be obtained from Assistant Principal Bryan Darcy or Business Teacher Victoria Priddle at 203-385-4250 or via email, bdarcy@stratfordk12.org; vpriddle@stratfordk12.org.
